Op-op!

Today, we're featuring one of our most complex technical projects. We've accomplished something BMW engineers didn't dare attempt with the F10 generation: we've combined the legendary S63 M engine with the xDrive all-wheel drive system.

This video isn't just another car repair video. It's the story of a real BMW, one that's seen many miles , but still commands respect from those who love technology and powerful cars.

The car you see in the video is a unique, all-wheel-drive M5 F10 in Ukraine. This example is rare even for Ukraine: powerful, all-wheel drive, a special modification, and it already has over 200,000 kilometers on the clock.

Many say that such cars should "last forever." But reality is always more rigorous than marketing promises .

A unique all-wheel-drive BMW M5 F10 in Ukraine: a project overview

The essence of the project

The video describes a technically complex conversion the author's team implemented on a German sedan. The BMW M5 F10 was initially produced with rear-wheel drive , not an all-wheel drive system (xDrive)—this is typical of the F10 generation, unlike newer M5 models, which feature all-wheel drive as standard.

The designers took an unconventional approach: they not only installed an all-wheel drive system on an existing car, but also significantly upgraded its technical components. Specifically, the engine and some key transmission components were replaced or upgraded to ensure compatibility with xDrive.

What is shown in the video

The video is structured according to the project stages:

  • At the beginning, the presenter tells the history of the project and why it was decided to change the factory design of the car.

  • Then the technical details are shown: how the engine and drive system are adapted for all-wheel drive.

  • A separate section is dedicated to final modifications, demonstrations of the work completed, and bench testing.

  • The video also highlights the car's interior after the upgrade and the authors' final impressions of the result.

Technical features and results

The project is particularly interesting because the team "did what the manufacturer didn't" on the F10: they equipped it with a full-fledged all-wheel drive system paired with a powerful engine. The original F10 featured a turbocharged V8 engine and rear-wheel drive, while full all-wheel drive became standard on BMW M5 models only in later generations.

The authors carefully demonstrate how the conversion was implemented, focusing on both the car's appearance and its on-road performance. The video includes commentary on the car's performance on the rig and the team's final conclusions on the work.

The automotive channel Vadym Garage Racer has published a video dedicated to a rare project: installing all-wheel drive on a BMW M5 F10 , which was originally produced with rear-wheel drive only. The author details how this unusual upgrade was implemented and the changes required to integrate the legendary S63 engine with the xDrive system.

What is the video about?

The video shows a team of specialists taking a standard M5 F10 and transforming it into a unique all-wheel-drive vehicle. The author not only shows the car's appearance but also details the technical modifications required to integrate all-wheel drive:

  • installation of a transfer case and additional drive shafts;

  • engine and gearbox adaptation;

  • electronics modifications for correct operation of the xDrive system.

The video also shows the car undergoing dynamometer testing, checking engine power, torque, and the car's handling with the new drivetrain.

What has been done in the project

The project is distinguished by its comprehensive approach. The author emphasizes that the goal was to create a car that doesn't exist in production: an all-wheel-drive M5 F10. To achieve this, the team completed the following work:

  1. Integration of the S63 engine, which provides high power and dynamics.

  2. Installation of the xDrive all-wheel drive system adapted to the power plant.

  3. Vehicle testing and tuning to ensure reliable operation of all components and optimal handling.

Why is this necessary?

The video clearly demonstrates that tuning can go far beyond standard exterior modifications or engine tuning. Creating a full-fledged all-wheel drive system on a rear-wheel drive car is an example of engineering mastery and an unconventional approach to automotive engineering.

For car enthusiasts and enthusiasts, this project is interesting because it demonstrates how a classic sports car can be combined with modern systems, improving handling and adapting it to different driving conditions.

Conclusion

The video is a detailed report on a rare tuning project that combines the power of the S63 engine with the capabilities of the xDrive system. It shows the entire process, from concept to completion, including testing and evaluation of the results. For BMW enthusiasts and high-tech tuning enthusiasts, this video is a source of inspiration and a clear example of how unique cars can be created.

This video provides a detailed documentary overview of a rare tuning project on a BMW M5 F10 : a complete redesign with all-wheel drive. For car enthusiasts and enthusiasts, such projects are intriguing examples of engineering creativity and unconventional solutions in the world of tuning.
