OP OP!!! In one of the last articles about our project “Drum” BMW F30 328i promised to make races against top competitors M3 and M4.
Let's remind you about our project: N20 engine is completely stock, except for the turbos (Stage 3 hybrid turbos are installed), we pump this engine to the max and try to find the limit to overtake everyone.
In this article, before increasing the power, we decided to make a diagnosis to understand whether something broke here or not.
To begin with, we checked the presence of metal chips in the oil filter - they were not there.
Having unscrewed the plugs, they were in bad condition and we replaced them.
Having made an inspection with an endoscope we did not see any new scoring, everything was ok.
After diagnostics of the car, we went to Darkhorse for maximum Stage 3 tuning. Upon arrival at the booth, we did an E20 fuel mixture and the guys started tuning it.
The next morning the good news came, we managed to squeeze 395 hp on the car.
I took the car and went to make measurements of acceleration 100-200:
Having made 5 measurements, the best result was 100-200 km/h - 9.54 seconds
RACING AGAINST RIVALS:
BMW F22 M235i Stage 2 (rear-wheel drive) vs BMW F30 328i Stage 3 - up to 160 km/h we keep steady, after our car overtakes the opponent.
BMW M3 F80 (431HP on MKPP) vs BMW F30 328 (395HP) - the rival's car is more powerful, lighter and rear-wheel drive, so we decided to put two passengers in M3. A very good rival with whom we stayed a couple of car lengths ahead in most races.
For the second race with the M3 we put an even number of passengers in - on many races the M3 F80 pulled ahead.
BMW M4 F82 (450HP on DCT) vs BMW F30 328 (395HP) - the rival was pulling away from us by 4-7 hulls.
Everything would be cloudless and joyful, if on the way back from the race against M4 we didn't have Check Engine, but we decided to make one more race against M235.
BMW M235 Stage 2 (all-wheel drive) vs BMW F30 328 (395HP) - the opponent was very tight away from us because of Check Engine.
On the way back from the race vs M235 I started to feel a vibration going through the bodywork. As soon as I arrived at the parking lot, we turned off the car, I read the errors (there were no errors, but there was a trolling of the engine), near the car was heard the smell of burning oil.
I thought that something happened to the iron of the engine...
