OP OP! Article about timing chain replacement on the N47 2.0 diesel engine.
As many know, the recommended timing chain replacement interval for the N47 engine is 200,000 kilometers. All necessary parts for the replacement were ordered immediately. The kit includes three chains, tensioners, two sprockets, a rear crankshaft seal, two chain guides, a valve cover gasket, sealant, and injector seals.

The automatic transmission, valve cover, and timing chain templates were removed, followed by setting the TDC and dismantling the rear engine cover.
Upon removing the chains and tensioners, the chain was found to be in good condition due to regular oil changes and careful driving.

Within a day, the timing chains were replaced. In fact, on this car, the chains could have lasted up to 230,000–240,000 kilometers thanks to high-quality maintenance and gentle operation.
Additionally, after replacing the timing chain, the rear brake discs and pads, front control arm bushings, and two plugs on the engine block were replaced.
Over a year of ownership, the owner has invested $500 in repairs and maintenance.
