OP OP! Here’s how we got ourselves a BMW M4 G82 — breaking it all down for you.

Today, we're sharing a new project that’s definitely worth your attention. This isn’t just about importing a car — it’s about the right approach, risks, calculations, and of course, a cool result.

It’s about a BMW M4 G82 xDrive we won at an auction in the USA.

Our regular client wanted something exciting. We started searching — there were several potential options:

  • A BMW M3 with mechanical issues, looked intact visually but we knew: broken engine, removed turbos, questionable completeness. We offered $39,500, but it sold for $44,000. Even then — engine + delivery = about $80,000.

  • A BMW M8 — a beautiful option but with a cut rear fender. We bid $38,000, it went for $44,000. By the way, it’s also headed to Kyiv.

Both didn’t justify their price/condition/risk ratio. Then — this BMW M4 G82 popped up. Not perfect, some damage, but attractive spec, AWD, good color, low mileage. And most importantly — real potential to turn it into a top-tier build for reasonable money.

How much did the car cost:

Starting auction bid — $27,000

We won it for $23,300

In Ukraine it totaled about $41,000

 Planned repairs — ~$25,000

 Total budget: up to $75,000

For context: right now, the cheapest M4 G82 xDrive crash car from the USA on AutoRia is from $105,000 — and we plan to spend significantly less, including tuning.

What about the damage?

Auction photos didn’t look too bad: the wheel was in place, seemed like the left side wasn’t touched. But when we got detailed shipping photos — doubts began. We saw:

  • Left front frame rail — 100% replacement

  • Stuck turbo, broken actuator

  • Damaged pipes

  • Charge pipe intact and will be tuned

  • Front brace, rack, radiators — damaged

  • Lower front end hit, upper panels intact

  • Wheel was cut to remove caliper (caliper survived)

  • Hub shattered but bracket intact

  • Door — replace, hood — intact

  • Interior — almost perfect, only a dent in the driver’s seat

  • Oil pan destroyed, clean filter, no metal shavings

  • Exhaust tip broken, cut ribs — needs replacement

Work done / in progress:

  • Removing the engine for a full check

  • Ordering suspension and front-end parts

  • New front rail (cost — just $200)

  • Ordered: windshield, bumper with stock grilles, front lip, all radiators, new wheels

  • Working on headlights (planning restyle optics)

  • Downpipe with deleted cat — planning stage 2 flash or straight pipe

  • Then — wheels on, and off to paint

Project plans:

  • Stage 2

  • Lowering + sports suspension

  • Efficient cooling so it stays cool in city traffic and under load

  • Interior retrim (full or partial)

  • Custom exterior details

In the end — a unique M4 with character, ready for shows and the track.

Conclusions:

We clearly see: it’s profitable to buy cars from the USA only with serious damage — minor ones often don’t justify expectations.

Example — BMW G20: minor damage but high mileage = hard to sell.

But BMW M4 F36 Gran Coupe with minimal mileage — sold fast for almost the same money.

In this case, we believe we made the right call.

The process will take about 2 months, but the result will be worth it: a standout custom car, perfect for daily fun and maximum emotion.
