BMW F10 528: Maintenance Costs for 1.5 Years and 43,000 km. A Real Owner's Review!

BMW F10 528 Maintenance – What Owners Need to Know

It's been a while since we last featured our "How Much Does It Cost Per Year?" series, and today we have an interesting car in the spotlight. This is the most popular BMW model in Ukraine, and by the way, 50% of all F10 sales are of the 528 version.

In this video and article, we'll share how much it cost to maintain the BMW F10 528 over 1.5 years and 43,000 km.

About the Car

The BMW F10 528 was purchased by its owner, Eduard, an IT entrepreneur. He will explain how he bought this car, the challenges he faced, and the costs involved during its use.

How Eduard Bought the Car

Eduard bought this BMW 1.5 years ago. It was an American car brought in with 52,000 km. He bought it from a seller in Odessa, despite some concerns due to the low price. But after checking the car, everything was fine, and he took the car for $23,000.

First Diagnostics and Repair

After purchasing the car, Eduard drove 7,000 km and brought the BMW in for diagnostics. During the check, it was found that the washer reservoir was leaking, and the wheel bolts were replaced. The total cost for these repairs was around $300.

Suspension and Shocks

After 10,000 km of use, Eduard noticed that the brakes were not working as well, and the car wasn’t as stable in corners. Diagnostics revealed that it was time to replace the shocks and brakes. The repair cost $1,300 (35,000 UAH). In this repair, front shocks, brake discs, pads, and front control arm bushings were replaced.

Technical Maintenance and Fuel Costs

On average, Eduard changed the oil and filters every 8,000 km. The cost for this maintenance was about $150 per service.

Maintenance Costs

Over 1.5 years of ownership, Eduard spent around $2,050 on maintenance (excluding tires). This includes work on replacing the brakes, shocks, and oil/filter services. Eduard also bought winter tires for $500, but that was an additional cost.

Ownership Cost Summary

Adding up all the maintenance costs over 1.5 years, the total comes to about $2,500 (including winter tires). The average maintenance cost per kilometer driven was 1.33 UAH – significantly cheaper than older BMW models like the E46.

Conclusion

As Eduard concluded, he is very satisfied with his BMW F10 528. It’s a comfortable and reliable car that has brought minimal surprises. Despite all the costs, the car is worth the money, and if you don’t “push it” during operation, you can significantly reduce maintenance expenses.
